About Us
myTypeface was created by Brian Fosse and David McCann in 2008, but the origin of the site goes back to early 2007. Brian decided to surprise his soon-to-be wife by creating personal typefaces to use on their wedding invitations and "wedsite". After a weekend of research, design, and some trial and error, the typefaces were ready. His wife loved them and they were a big hit with the family as well. So much so that they began asking how they could make typefaces of their own. The problem was that creating a typeface was anything but simple, requiring time to learn and software to buy. It still took Brian several hours to make each new typeface.
The idea for myTypeface was born to solve this problem. The goal has always been to allow friends and family to create personalized typefaces from their own handwriting, and to do so in the simplest terms possible.
Brian and David have been friends since high school. David has a BS in both Physics and Computer Science and an MS in Computer Science from Georgia Tech. He is currently working as a Mobile Application Specialist in Accra, Ghana. Brian has a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Tech. He is currently pursuing an MBA in Atlanta, Georgia.
