Why create a typeface? When you can type in your own hand the possibilities are endless. There is the initial fun of sending an email in your own handwriting, but eventually that is surpassed by the continual opportunities to enjoy your own typeface. Like what you ask? Scrapbooking. You can type out what you want to journal and easily adjust the sizing and shape to print and paste however you need it. If you enjoy creating digital albums you can now type in your own hand. You can use it to type out handwritten thank you notes or other personal letters. It's great for addressing wedding invitations or making invitations for that matter. Anything you print out from grocery lists to directions to weekly planners become more enjoyable in your typeface. Beyond that you can personalize your digital space by using your typeface in your favorite software programs, in website design, and in graphics applications. The possibilities truly are endless, but the result is that you can personalize your lifespace through typeface.
How long does it take? Most users can create a typeface from start to finish in less than 30 minutes. Ultimately the amount of time depends on you though. It can vary by how much time you choose to take filling out the template or tweaking your typeface online. Regardless if that takes you five or thirty minutes, rest assured that we will email your new typeface to you as soon as you are done creating it.
Where does it work? PC and Mac. Your typeface will be made in TrueType format. This is the most common format for fonts on both Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X operating systems. Because of this you can use your typeface within any of the programs that support fonts on these operating systems, such as word processors and graphics applications.
Can I share my typeface? Yes! In fact we recommend sharing your typeface with friends and family. The reason is that they will need to have the typeface on their computer too in order to see text in your handwriting that you send over email or in files. To help with this you can store your typeface in the Typebook on myTypeface.com to share with friends and family who would like to have it. Also, we will send personalized emails of your typeface as soon as you make it to people you want to start enjoying it right away. You are free to share your typeface your own way as well.
What does it cost? The cost is $10 per typeface. Storage in the Typebook and personalized typeface emails are free services that come with each typeface. All major credit and debit cards are accepted (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). We process payments using Google Checkout to allow you to pay with confidence. Google Checkout offers fraud protection to buyers and doesn't share your full credit card number with the seller.
Are there any special characters? Yes. It is one of the best ways to personalize your typeface. The last two characters on the Simple myTypeface template are set aside for special characters of your choice. Since by definition they won't be found on your keyboard you can insert them using either of the following methods: 1) In Microsoft programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel use the Insert menu and choose the Symbol option. A dialog box will open where you can choose your typeface and click on any symbol to insert from your entire character set. Just highlight the one you want to use and click the Insert button. Once inserted, you can copy and paste it into other programs as well. 2) Another option available in other programs is to use your special character codes. First, make sure your typeface is selected in the program you are using. Then press and hold the Alt key while you type 221 on your number pad. Let go of the Alt key and your first special character will appear. Use 222 to insert your second special character.
